Red Desert Humane Society: Dog Enrichment Grant Report
How did this grant help your organization and the pets in your care?
The dog enrichment grant allowed us to purchase some artificial grass, a sandbox for the dogs to dig in, pea gravel to lay down on one side of our play area, and a couple other toys to put inside the play area.
The grant will help all of the dogs in our shelter at any given time. Once this area is all put together, they will all get the chance to get out of their kennels and into the play area with our new artificial grass, toys, sandbox, and more to interact with volunteers, other dogs, and potential adopters.
In addition, it will be a better place for potential adopters to meet and spend time with dogs. It will also be a great place for volunteers to get dogs out of their kennels and be able to interact with them more.
How many pets did this grant help?
This grant will help 80-100 dogs during the year.

This is Milo! Milo was found as a stray in another city in Wyoming. I pulled Milo into the Humane Society to not only help the other shelter, as they are very overcrowded, but also to help get Milo more one-on-one time and have him be seen by different potential adopters.
Shelter life can be hard on puppies, so the play area/enrichment area will help Milo gain confidence by climbing and stepping up and over different and new obstacles. It will get him out of his kennel for a nice break and some much-needed puppy playtime. It will also help potential adopters see Milo’s personality in a different way.
