How did this grant help your organization and the pets in your care?
We purchased a variety of dog treat toys, lick matts, and slow feeders, as well as the treats to fill all of them.
We have had some pretty bad weather where it was hard to get the dogs outside for more then a quick walk so they could do their business. The treat toys, lick matts, and slow feeders helped greatly with keeping the dogs occupied in their kennels.
They also help with some of the dogs experiencing stress from being at the kennel. The toys help take their minds off of their stress. We also share these items with dog fosters who need them for their foster dogs.

Murphy (first and second photos) was found after a tornado in Alabama. He wasn’t microchipped and no one ever claimed him.
Surprisingly enough, storms do not bother him. The vacuum cleaner running and loud music do.
Murphy ended up in a shelter in Alabama and then found his way to us on one of the weekly transports coming from the South. He is a great dog. He is very friendly and loves other dogs and all people.
Murphy has been with Almost Home Foundation for over four months and is still available for adoption. None of the volunteers can understand why he hasn’t been adopted yet. He is very sweet and loving.
