City of Bloomington Animal Care and Control: Play Yard Renovation Grant Report
How did this grant help your organization and the pets in your care?
This grant allowed us to extend upgrades to four of our existing dog play yards. The project allowed for diverting downspouts to keep two of the yards from flooding, and replaced a degraded stair system on two other yards as well as creating entrance pens into the yards to allow for safer playgroups.
How many pets did this grant help?
2,000-3,000
Please provide a story of one or more specific pets this grant helped.
Six (the dog on the left in the first photo) came to us as a young, energetic pup. The frustration of the shelter caused him to have difficulty moderating his energy around people. He was often mouthy and quick to jump on individuals.
Entering him into playgroups gave him an outlet for his energy, allowed him to develop great dog skills, and to have time to be a dog. After seven weeks at the shelter, Six was adopted and is doing well in his new home.
