Cherished Tails Senior Sanctuary: Kia Pet Adoption Grant Report
How did this grant help your organization and the pets in your care?
This grant enabled us to provide subsidized adoptions for our harder-to-place dogs, including larger breeds, bonded pairs, dogs with medical and behavioral challenges, and super seniors! Providing this incentive and finding homes for some of our longer-stay dogs opened up fosters to take in others who were at risk in our local shelters.
How many pets did this grant help?
15
Please provide a story of one or more specific pets this grant helped.
Two of our larger-breed dogs, Dixie and Mai Tai (first photo), got adopted to the perfect home! Mai Tai had been in rescue almost six months and had already been adopted and returned once. She got adopted along with her “bestie,” Dixie, who had been with us around three months!
Because they came from the same foster and had already established themselves as compatible, we could not have wished for a more perfect ending for them.
Mai Tai came to us when she was just a few hours away from being euthanized at one of our border shelters, and Dixie became homeless when her dad went to prison.
We have already received glowing reports from their adopters, who love them to the moon.
None of the pets helped by this grant are still on Petfinder because they are now happily in their forever homes! Gladys, Charlie, Carlos B, Gordy, Gigi, Lana, Patty/Sophie, Nola, Rose, Venetia, Kiko, Bruce Almighty, Leo, Dixie, and Mai Tai all say THANK YOU to the Petfinder Foundation and Kia for helping create their happy endings!
