Los Angeles County Department of Animal Care and Control: Kia Pet Adoption Grant Report

How did this grant help your organization and the pets in your care?

The awarded funds were used to reduce adoption fees for large dogs (35 lbs. and over) for dogs at our animal care centers. Fees were reduced during special events, and during periods in which capacity was the highest. These waived fees help make pet ownership more equitable in our communities and also help us increase live outcomes for dogs.

Dan (first photo), an almost 2-year old pit bull, was found as a stray on March 18, 2022, and brought to the Palmdale Animal Care Center. The sweet and kindhearted Dan found his forever home over two months later on May 29, 2022.

Chilli (second photo) was a slightly over 1-year-old Queensland heeler who was brought to our Lancaster Animal Care Center on May 21, 2022, as a stray. Chilli found her forever home when she was adopted on June 3, 2022, thanks in large part to our ability to offer reduced fees.
