Companion Pet Rescue & Transport of W. TN: P.L.A.Y. Pet Beds Grant Report
How did this grant help your organization and the pets in your care?
This grant was a huge help to us this summer. Like every other shelter across the country, we experienced decreased adoptions, increased requests for assistance, and increased costs of all the things needed for rescue, including food, medications, etc.
The beds provided by this grant allowed us to help keep our dogs more comfortable without pulling money from other areas of the budget to purchase them. This grant enhanced our ability to make time spent in a kennel waiting for a home comfortable.
How many pets did this grant help?
250
Please provide a story of one or more specific pets this grant helped.
Being awarded a P.L.A.Y. Pet Beds Grant allowed us to provide a bed to this sweet dog, now named Wigs, who came to us after an accident and needed to have a rear leg amputated.
We didn’t have a foster available at the time, but didn’t think the dog could recover comfortably in a kennel, so she stayed in the office during the day, on her comfy P.L.A.Y. bed, and at night she went home with our kennel manager.
Turned out that, after all those sleepovers, when Wigs was ready to be posted for adoption, our kennel manager already knew she was a perfect fit for her home, so she adopted her!
